Homemade burger patties with grilled vegetables

Welcome to a delicious BBQ recipe that will delight meat lovers and vegetable fans alike. These homemade burger patties, seasoned with Helvetic Barbecue’s Salt ‘n’ Pepper Rub and served with a grilled vegetable platter, are ideal for a summer barbecue. For the burger patties:

  • 800 g minced pork
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp salt ‘n’ pepper rub
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcester sauce

For the vegetable platter:

  • 2 red peppers, diced
  • 2 yellow peppers, diced
  • 2 zucchinis, diced
  • 1 diced eggplant
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt ‘n’ pepper rub
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano


  1. Make burger patties:
  • In a large bowl, mix the minced pork with the egg, chopped onion, chopped garlic, breadcrumbs, salt ‘n’ pepper rub, mustard and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
  • Form 4 patties of the same size from the mixture. Make sure they are evenly thick so that they cook evenly.
  1. Preparation of the smoker:
  • Preheat the smoker to medium heat (approx. 150-180°C).
  1. Prepare the vegetables:
  • In a large bowl, mix the diced peppers, zucchini, eggplant and red onion with the olive oil, salt ‘n’ pepper rub and oregano.
  • Spread the vegetables evenly on a grill tray.
  1. Barbecue:
  • Place the grill tray with the vegetables on the smoker.
  • Place the burger patties next to the vegetable platter on the grill.
  • Grill the vegetables for approx. 25-30 minutes until soft and lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
  • Grill the burger patties for about 5-7 minutes per side until they have reached a core temperature of 70°C and are nice and juicy.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve the grilled vegetable platter together with the homemade, spicy burger patties.
  • Fresh bread rolls, salad and various dips such as the Helvetic Barbeque Original Sauce are suitable side dishes
