Ingredients:
For the burger patties:
- 800 g minced pork
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp salt ‘n’ pepper rub
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp Worcester sauce
For the vegetable platter:
- 2 red peppers, diced
- 2 yellow peppers, diced
- 2 zucchinis, diced
- 1 diced eggplant
- 1 red onion, diced
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tsp salt ‘n’ pepper rub
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Preparation:
- Make burger patties:
- In a large bowl, mix the minced pork with the egg, chopped onion, chopped garlic, breadcrumbs, salt ‘n’ pepper rub, mustard and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
- Form 4 patties of the same size from the mixture. Make sure they are evenly thick so that they cook evenly.
- Preparation of the smoker:
- Preheat the smoker to medium heat (approx. 150-180°C).
- Prepare the vegetables:
- In a large bowl, mix the diced peppers, zucchini, eggplant and red onion with the olive oil, salt ‘n’ pepper rub and oregano.
- Spread the vegetables evenly on a grill tray.
- Barbecue:
- Place the grill tray with the vegetables on the smoker.
- Place the burger patties next to the vegetable platter on the grill.
- Grill the vegetables for approx. 25-30 minutes until soft and lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
- Grill the burger patties for about 5-7 minutes per side until they have reached a core temperature of 70°C and are nice and juicy.
- Serve:
- Serve the grilled vegetable platter together with the homemade, spicy burger patties.
