The dish is reminiscent of the classic Swiss sausage salad, in which cervelat, cheese cubes and onions are the main ingredients. The dark balsamic dressing on top gives the salad a nice spiciness and that certain something visually.
Ingredients:
- 2-3 cervelats
- 100 g Emmental or Gruyère cheese, diced
- 1 red onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 tbsp Helvetic Barbecue Original Sauce
- 2 tbsp olive oil (or another high-quality cooking oil)
- A dash of balsamic cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: fresh herbs such as parsley or chives
Preparation:
- Prepare the sausage & cheese: Cut the sausage into thin slices and cut the cheese into small cubes.
- Add the onions: Finely chop the red onion and place in a large bowl.
- Mix the dressing: Mix the Helvetic Barbecue Original Sauce with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a dash of balsamic cream. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Mix everything together: Pour the dressing over the sausage and cheese salad and mix well so that everything is evenly coated.
- Leave to infuse: Leave the salad to infuse in the fridge for about 30 minutes so that the flavors combine nicely.
- Serve: Optionally sprinkle with fresh herbs before serving.
This salad has a lovely velvety texture thanks to the oil, which harmonizes perfectly with the spicy BBQ sauce. Serve with crusty bread – and your BBQ-inspired sausage and cheese salad is ready!
